Install Time Champ (MSI) Through Group Policy (GPO)

Creating a Shared Folder:


1) Create a shared network folder (this folder will contain the MSI package)

For Example we are creating a folder named software in the C directory 

Right click and go to Properties of the shared folder.

 


2)Set permissions on this folder in order to allow access to the distribution package

3) Similarly go to security and select the group and give the necessary permissions

4) If its assigned per-user, it will be installed when the user logs on

 

Creating a GPO:

1. Open Group Policy Management.
2. Create a  policy suppose "software_deployent".


3. Right-click in the panel and choose Edit.

5. Navigate to User Configuration > Policies > Software Settings.

6. Right-click Software Installation and choose New > Package.

-Select the path where the Time Champ MSI file is placed.


7. Pick your package from the network share you configured earlier.


8. Choose "Assigned" in the dialog and click OK.


9. Wait for the package to appear in the Software Installation panel.


10. Double-click the new package and select the Deployment tab.

11. Check "Install this application at logon" and choose "Basic" for the user interface.


12. Click OK.


13. Close the Group Policy Management Editor.


14. In the Group Policy Management window, add the group if not added in the Security Filtering.

15. When the group policy settings are updated in the next refresh cycle the the Time Champ (MSI) will be installed.
